Cascina San Michele is a picturesque winery located in Costigliole, nestled in the beautiful Piedmont region d’Asti. Established in 2015 by Marco Minnucci, the winery's journey began five years earlier when Marco took over the vineyards. The estate spans 6.5 hectares of different plots which allow us to feel the uniqueness of Barbera in each of them. Beside of Barbera, the winemaker works with various grape varieties including Nebbiolo, Brachetto, Bonarda, and Cortese.
Marco Minnucci embarked on his winemaking career in 2010, bringing a wealth of experience and passion to Cascina San Michele. Marco's philosophy focuses on minimal intervention both in the vineyard and the cellar. He avoids chemical fertilizers and herbicides, allowing natural fermentation processes to thrive.
Cascina San Michele is dedicated to a natural winemaking approach. Marco utilizes indigenous yeasts present on the grape skins and minimizes the addition of sulfur. The wines are aged in steel or small used wooden barrels and bottled without filtration. This hands-off method results in wines that genuinely express the unique terroir of the region.
