Hansi Verdorfer. South Tyrol. Seven Wines.

Some winemakers visit once. Others come back. Luckily for us, Hansi Verdorfer of Riedingerhof belongs to the second group. In January, every seat was taken.

Hansi is a third-generation winemaker, working four hectares spread across six plots around Merano. From vineyard to bottle, everything is in his hands. He takes South Tyrol’s classic grape varieties and gives them his own interpretation: his Sauvignon Blanc spends five days on the skins, his Chardonnay Danfora a full twelve months. The result? Wines with character that never lose touch with where they come from. And a winemaker who knows exactly what he’s doing and why.

On 6 November, we’ll taste seven of his wines: Sauvignon Blanc, LaMa, SassPinot, Chardonnay Danfora, LaNoir Rosé, FraSchiaTa and VerNoir. We’ll talk about the vineyards around Merano, different vintages, decisions made in the cellar and why some wines simply need a little more time. Questions are more than welcome (including the ones you didn’t dare ask last time).
