A quiet, layered Vitovska with warm, mellow aromatics. In the glass it is straw yellow, with the warm hue of a ripe melon. The nose shows blossom honey, candied citron and apricot, along with a touch of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate the wine is dry, with fine acidity and notes of ripe apple. A light bitter note and a clear mineral thread give it grip and length. A distinctive, profound white wine of understated strength.
Alda is Fedora’s line for special wines, made not every year and only in small quantities. It is named after Valter’s late mother. Vitovska Grganja, one of the old grape varieties of Primorska, grows on Fedora’s terraces in the Vipavska Brda above Dolanci, which are farmed organically.
The grapes macerate on their skins for three weeks. The wine then ages for 24 months in wooden barrels and is bottled unfiltered, in rhythm with the phases of the moon.
